Why: To celebrate the birthday of the Church
The Feast of Pentecost celebrates the day when the Holy Spirit came on the disciples and gave them the gifts they needed to go out and preach the Good News of Jesus and to live as His people. When those frightened disciples opened their mouths to speak, many believed in the life-changing story of Jesus death and resurrection and decided to follow him as well. Thus, the church was born on Pentecost!
Please join us at St Mary’s on Pentecost to hear more about the Holy Spirit and the church. Children are most welcome to join in by processing into church to sing and listen to a talk that is accessible to children (and adults!) Following the talk, there will be activities for them in the Sunday School rooms while the adults continue worshipping in the church.
After the service, everyone is most welcome to a Pentecost BBQ in the church gardens.
