"Where Was God
In Christchurch?"

Dear Friends,

Greetings and welcome to our Services today. It is always good to see you. I praise and thank God for you all. If you are visiting us today I hope that you can become a regular member of our congregation. I hope that you can stay for some morning tea. I would like to meet you.
The gospel reading today is a significant one. Worry can wear us down and steal all the joy from our lives.
"Look at the birds! they don't worry about what to eat - they don't need to sow or reap or store up food - for your heavenly Father feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than they are" (Matthew 6:26)
Some workers on a British railroad found a thrush's nest under a rail. Peacefully sitting on her eggs, the hen was undisturbed by the roar of the fast trains above and around her.
There is a little verse on this theme:
"Said the robin to the sparrow, I should really like to know, why these anxious human beings rush about and worry so. Said the sparrow to the robin, Friend, I think that it must be, that they have no heavenly Father, such as cares for you and me."
Jesus used the carefree attitude of the birds to underscore the fact that worrying is unnatural, unnecessary and unproductive.
I am learning in my own life, each day to keep my mind centred on Christ, to trust God to work in my life, my family and our Church. I am trying to remember each day that God has taken the responsibility for my care and worry.
My Prayer: Lord Jesus, I'm happiest when I'm fully trusting You. Help me today to be constantly grateful for Your care and faithfulness.

AMEN
