Who we are
St Mary’s is a spiritual home to many different groups of people. Some come regularly on Sunday to worship as they learn from the Scriptures, pray, receive Holy Communion and encourage one another in their Christian faith. Some come for the Sunday School which teaches children how to read the stories of the Bible, how to pray and how to encourage one another to love God and their neighbour. Some come on special Sundays throughout the year, when St Mary’s likes to celebrate so that people will remember the meaning behind the great events commemorated during Christmas, Palm Sunday, Good Friday, Easter, Pentecost and All Saints.
St Mary’s is also home to many families who have come to the church in times of great joy for weddings and baptisms, and also in times of sadness for funerals. Many return on special anniversaries to be strengthened in their faith and reminded of their hope in God and of his comforting Spirit.
It is the hope of the congregation that all who come, however briefly, will encounter something of the living God who is worshipped with reverence and joy each week at St Mary’s.
